- FAQ

Q: When did you start practicing yoga?

A: I started practicing yoga in 2013 when I was going through a rough time.

Q: Are you a legitimate yoga teacher?

A: Yes I am a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.

Q: What’s your story with endo?

A: Please check www.carolinestanienda.com/endostory

Q: How long did it take for you to start exercising again after you had the endo surgery?

A: I am by no means a gynecologist and I don’t know your entire story! Therefore, I am NOT educated to give any medical advice. I can only recommend for you to go see a specialist and ask him the same question. BUT KEEP IN MIND: Every healing process is different! Every body is different! I’ve been active all my life and have a very healthy diet, so it didn’t take me that long. When I had my first surgery I started practicing yoga after only 2 weeks of recovery. But after surgery No.2 it took me about 5 weeks to be active again. The last surgery was more invasive, because they cut out all the endo lining. If you “only” get it lasered you are supposed to recover faster. But please check with your doctor/ surgeon who is familiar with your case!

Q: Do you currently teach yoga classes?

A: I currently only do workshops check at www.carolinestanienda.com/yoga-1

Q: Is ‘Stanienda’ you real name? Where does it come from? Are you from Spain? Do you speak Spanish?

A: Well, ‘Stanienda’ is not Spanish. But it’s my REAL Polish last name. I know I don’t look Polish at all. I apparently get the looks from my mom’s side of the family. A lot of people approach me in Spanish and I honestly have no idea what they’re saying but I intend to learn Spanish next year. I think it’s a beautiful language!

Q: How are you living well with endometriosis?

A: …through practicing gratitude EVERY SINGLE DAY. I am taking each day as it is and am trying to find the positive in everything. My life started to make sense again, when I stopped feeling sorry for myself. And I have found myself a handful of specialists.

Q: I have endometriosis and want to get off birth control pill. Is there something I have to put into consideration and is this really safe?

A: This is probably the most common question I get on social media. First of all I am by no means a gynecologist and I don’t know your entire story! Therefore, I am NOT educated to give any medical advice. I can only recommend for you to go see a specialist and ask him the same question. Keep in mind though that at the end of the day it’s your body, YOU DECIDE and nobody can decide for you. However if you think your question (and your health) isn’t worth spending money on, maybe you need to set your priorities straight in the first place. GET YOURSELF CHECKED!!!!!!!!!!

Q: I think I have endometriosis. How can it be diagnosed?

A: Endometriosis can only be diagnosed through a laparoscopy, which is a mini invasive surgery on the lower stomach.

Q: I’m not sure if I have endometriosis and I’m too afraid to have a surgery. Can you help me?

A: This is probably the most common question I get on social media. First of all I am by no means a gynecologist and I don’t know your entire story! Therefore, I am NOT educated to give any medical advice. I can only recommend for you to go see a specialist and ask him the same question. Keep in mind though that at the end of the day it’s your body, thus YOU DECIDE and nobody can decide for you. However if you think your question (and your health) isn’t worth spending money on, maybe you need to set your priorities straight in the first place. Generally speaking, the endo women I know – including me – didn’t really have a choice in the end. There was no way around the surgery because the pain was just too unbearable. So in this case I want to kindly ask you to be honest to yourself. Do you really think you have endometriosis or are you only exaggerating?

Q: With whom and where did you do your Yoga Teacher Training?

A: With Rachel Hanberry, at Yoga Beach House in Biscarrosse Plague, in the South of France.

Q: How old are you?

A: I’m 27 years old.

Q: Where do you live?

A: I currently live in Germany.

Q: I feel so alone. Can you please help me?

A: Despite the fact that I really wanted to study psychology 10 years ago my life took a different path. Thus, I am not trained (YET, maybe I will be in the future) to give you psychological advice/ help. If the loneliness keeps lingering, though, please get professional help!!!!! Make your mental health your priority. Or ask yourself, why do I feel lonely and how can I change that?

Q: Are you plant-based vegan?

A: NOPE! I used to be vegan, but it wasn’t for me. I don’t like to be put in a box. I eat intuitively plant-based vegan 75% of the time. But sometimes I also have ghee, bone broth, honey in my muffins or even fried sushi (MY ABSOLUTE FAVE) if I feel like it. Just like my grandpa used to say “food is joy” I like to enjoy my food even if it’s not 100% clean. I had multiple eating disorders in the past and am happy I finally got to a point where I can let go of the control and simply enjoy.

Q: How did you start yoga?

A: I literally bought a DVD at the supermarket and did some crappy downward dogs in my living room.

Q: What supplements do you take?

A: It varies. What cures/ helps me might still be bad for you. I would recommend getting your blood tested at a naturopath and then go from there. Maybe you won’t even need any, I’d be happy for you.
